A Way With Words and Pictures
Ann began her career in 1982 as a widely published writer and photographer. Hundreds of her pictures and articles have appeared in a variety of magazines from Highlights For Children and Family Circle, to Western Horseman and Police News. As a marketing professional, her clients have included Fortune 500 companies such as Hewlett-Packard to a variety of non-profits, small businesses, professional speakers, and top producer real estate agents.
Master of Innovative Marketing Techniques
Promoting a client involves utilizing every available resource. Ann has watched her business evolve from designing display ads and brochures to producing scripts, videotapes, CD-ROMs and web sites. A good example is a series of ten videotapes for the equine industry for Meredith Hodges. These training videotapes, created with Fort Collins businesswoman Maury Willman, not only were best-sellers but resulted in the spinoff of a 13-week television series, and two best-seller books for Hodges!
Volunteer
Ann is actively involved in her community, and she reaps the reward of quiet volunteerism. A champion of women in business, Ann has been active with Women's Development Council since 1992. She served on the Board of Directors and chaired networking and mentoring projects, and a series of educational seminars featuring local business women. Her passion for the youth of her community began as a 4-H leader and continues today through mentoring. Her volunteerism was recognized a few years ago when she was hailed as one of the "People Who Make A Difference" by her local newspaper
Mentor Ann is a supporter of education programs for youth, especially the "Young Women of the West" (Y.W.O.W.) where she has been a site facilitator since 1996. This mentoring program matches high school junior and senior girls with women business owners in the community to teach entrepreneurial skills.
On a personal note......Ann's love of horses is what originally led her obesssion with capturing their beauty on film. But she and her husband, Dick, are also obsessed with bicycling and will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary in September with a bicycling tour of the vineyards of Western Colorado! Their son, Rich "took good notes" and has his own business as a personal trainer and coach. Their daughter-in-law, Shannon, is a sports massage therapist AND just launched her own decorating business. Entrepreneurism and high energy runs in the family!
What Makes Ann So Special?
"My grandparents, parents and brother were all business owners. We talked business at the dinner table like some families talked politics or sports. Entrepreneurism is more than just in my blood--it's part of my gene pool!"
"I've always been self-employed, and in the 22 years that Ideas At Work has been in existence, I've helped countless men and women take their businesses to a new level. I'm a natural mentor, and nothing gives me more pleasure than knowing I've helped someone succeed."
